Easter: an opportunity to prevent and enjoy

Easter is one of the most awaited times by many, as it represents an occasion to rest, coexist with the family and visit tourist places. However, it is also a time when the risks of accidents and emergency situations increase.

That is why it is important that we follow the recommendations given by the State Civil Protection Coordination, dependent on the General Secretariat of Government, to avoid setbacks and enjoy these vacations to the fullest.

Before leaving home, we must close the gas, electricity and water supplies; inform our relatives about the route and duration of the trip; avoid traveling alone and carry a first aid kit. If we go in our own vehicle, we must check the suspension, brakes and oil; not pick up strangers; not consume alcohol or drive tired.

During our stay at the chosen destination, we must turn off cigarettes and matches well; avoid breaking bottles that can cause forest fires; light bonfires only in permitted places and turn them off completely; not swim in dams, ponds and lagoons; and deposit the garbage in its place.

These are some simple but effective measures that can make the difference between a pleasant vacation or a bad memory. Let us remember that prevention is everyone’s responsibility and that we must take care of each other.

In case of any emergency, do not forget to contact 911, where they will attend and guide us in a timely manner. I hope you have a happy Easter and that you return safely to your homes.
