El agua es un recurso vital y escaso que debemos cuidar y aprovechar de manera racional. Sin embargo, en algunas fechas se suele desperdiciar el líquido en actividades que no tienen nada que ver con el sentido religioso o cultural de la celebración. Tal es el caso del Sábado de Gloria, donde se acostumbra mojar a otras personas como una forma de diversión.
Esta práctica no sólo implica un derroche de agua, sino también una falta de respeto y una agresión a quienes no desean participar en ella. Por eso, me parece muy acertada la medida que anunció la Comisión Ciudadana de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado del Municipio de Aguascalientes (CCAPAMA), de realizar un operativo especial para supervisar que este 8 de abril no se desperdicie el vital líquido.
El operativo consistirá en recorridos en las diferentes colonias y fraccionamientos para detectar y sancionar a quienes realicen estas prácticas, de acuerdo a lo establecido en la Ley de Aguas para el Estado de Aguascalientes. El encargado de despacho de esta dependencia, Rafael Berumen Esparza, señaló que el interés primordial es fomentar la conciencia ciudadana para contribuir al buen uso del agua.
Desde esta columna, reconozco el trabajo de la CCAPAMA y su compromiso con la preservación del recurso hídrico. Creo que este operativo es necesario y oportuno para evitar el desperdicio de agua y para respetar el derecho de las personas a no ser mojadas.

No to water waste on Holy Saturday
Water is a vital and scarce resource that we must take care of and use rationally. However, on some dates, the liquid is usually wasted in activities that have nothing to do with the religious or cultural meaning of the celebration. Such is the case of Holy Saturday, where it is customary to wet other people as a form of fun.
This practice not only implies a waste of water, but also a lack of respect and an aggression to those who do not wish to participate in it. Therefore, I find very appropriate the measure that announced the Citizen Commission of Drinking Water and Sewerage of the Municipality of Aguascalientes (CCAPAMA), to carry out a special operation to supervise that this April 8 does not waste the vital liquid.
The operation will consist of tours in the different neighborhoods and subdivisions to detect and sanction those who carry out these practices, according to what is established in the Water Law for the State of Aguascalientes. The person in charge of this agency, Rafael Berumen Esparza, pointed out that the primary interest is to promote citizen awareness to contribute to the good use of water.
